Tips for Frozen Pipes

Frozen water pipes are at risk of bursting as they thaw. If you suspect any frozen water pipes, and have not already done so, please consider taking the following steps to prevent water damage:

  • Turn off your main water supply

  • Open all faucets to allow water currently in the lines to drain

  • Inspect any accessible pipes for damage

  • As temperatures increase, watch and listen for water leaks (including attics and crawl space)

  • If a pipe is leaking, call a plumber to repair the leak(s). Do not turn on the water

  • If temperatures rise above freezing and no leaks are detected, slowly turn on water while checking for leaks
